Martha E. Reed

Martha E. Reed age 91, of Caldwell, OH passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, OH. She was born December 17, 1925 in Noble County, OH a daughter of the late Wayne and Vesta Wells McFarland.

Martha had an artistic touch, whether she was producing a one of a kind quilt or a painting masterpiece. She was a lifetime member of the Bells United Methodist Church in Caldwell. She was a member of the Good Neighbors Quilting Club and the Townsquare Quilt Lovers Guild. She was a professional artist and was one of the founders of the Art on the Square. She could often be found volunteering her time at the Samaritan House or dressed up and working at the Soakum Festival.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Reed who passed away in August of 1998; daughter Jacqueline Moorehouse; and one sister Betty Woodford.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son Gilbert A. Reed of Caldwell; 2 grandchildren Carrie Lynn Houck of Asheville, NC and Kevin Houck of Fife, WA; 2 great-grandchildren Zachary Harter and Zane (Taunia) Harter; 1 great-great-granddaughter Addelyn Harter; sister Maxine Spriggs of Mansfield, OH; son-in-law Thomas Moorehouse of Kissimmee, FL. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor George Clark and Rev. Helen Lewis co-officiating. Burial will follow in Dudley Cemetery near Caldwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Joyce M. Davis Senior Center, 300 Cumberland St, Caldwell, OH 43724.
