Kenneth D. Jackson age 79, of Caldwell, OH passed away suddenly at his home Monday, March 11, 2019. He was born November 17, 1939 in Pittsburg, Kansas a son of the late Eugene Sylvester and Dorothy E. Baughman Jackson.
Kenny attended the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and was a member of Sharon Lodge #136 F. & A.M. He was retired from the Central Ohio Coal Company and went on to work as a corrections officer for the Noble County Sheriff’s Office for many years. He and his wife Joan had been active in western square dancing as members of the Curley Q’s Dance Group. They traveled to many National Square Dance Conventions over a span of 25 years. He was a wonderful grandfather. He loved to golf and was an avid reader especially western themed books written by Louis L'Amour. His latest joy was riding around on his new John Deere Zero Turn Mower and mowing several of the neighbor’s yards that weren’t about to get out themselves.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson Adam D. Bender.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Joan Safigan Jackson, whom he married June 18, 1960; 3 daughters Tressa (Ron) Tews of Cambridge, OH, Veronica (Eric) Bender of Caldwell, and Jenifer (John Foster) Jackson of Zanesville, OH; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 brother Marvin (Grace) Jackson of Westerville, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with a vigil service held at 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Father Wayne Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, with graveside honors conducted by the Noble County Sheriff’s Office.
