Jack L. Barnett age 69, of Caldwell, OH, formerly of Summerfield, OH passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Highland Oaks Care Center in McConnelsville, OH. He was born February 2, 1948 in Caldwell a son of the late Charles and Molly Barnes Barnett.

 

Jack was a 1966 graduate of the Shenandoah High School. He retired from the former Duke Energy Pipeline following 35 years of service. He was a member of the Stop Nine Church of Christ in Byesville, OH. He always had a great passion for baseball whether he was playing, coaching, or just watching. One of his greatest memories was getting to play at PNC Park on the field and meeting many of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He coached girls’ softball at Shenandoah, was a Scout Leader, and a volunteer Grandparent at Shenandoah as well. He could often be found cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates anytime they were playing.

 

He had many hobbies, just a few were collecting Farmall Tractors, raising Dalmatian puppies, gardening, playing golf, and croquet. He was a man of faith and spent many Sunday mornings leading worship and music at the Summit Acres Chapel, as well as filling in at many other churches in the area. For many years, he was involved with the Soakum Festival as the town crier.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 sisters Wanda Christman and Barb Biedenbach; 2 brothers Ronald “Pete” Barnett and Jeff Barnett, as well as 2 infant siblings.

 

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Jane Davis Barnett, whom he married November 28, 1970; 3 daughters Jacie (John “J.D.”) Robinson of Caldwell, Janae (Jason) Norman of Lowell, OH, and Jacalyn Barnett of Pleasant City, OH; 4 grandchildren; Javison, Jaden, Jase, Josiah; mother-in-law Helen Davis of Sarahsville; 1 brother Charles (Brenda) Barnett of Senecaville, OH; 1 sister Kathleen Hannum of Caldwell; brother-in-law Lamont Christman of Columbus; sister-in-law Janelle “Gladys” Barnett of Michigan; his dog Ebbie. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Evangelist Mike Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Eastern Cemetery in Summerfield, OH.
