Donald R. Quest

Donald R Quest   1938-2019  

Donald R Quest was born in 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to Arthur and Josephine Domsky Quest who were the son and daughter of immigrants from England and Eastern Europe. Donald and his sister Patty were raised in a loving home on western Long Island, New York, surrounded by relatives and friends, good food, music and laughter, stories from the old country and experiences from their life as an American family.

Following graduation from Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York, he attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, St Bonaventure University in Olean, New York and New York Institute of Finance, New York City.  He then went on to serve his country in the Coast Guard Reserve.

Donald began his business career in investment banking on Wall Street and after several years he opened his own firm, Equitable Equities, Inc., where he brought a number of companies public. Eventually he traded his ticker tape for a Stetson and moved to Midland in West Texas where he began a land development project in Pecos County that led to his second career, the Oil and Gas business. Oil and gas later brought him to southeastern Ohio.

Although Donald was always interested in financial investments and interesting projects, he maintained a keen focus on natural gas and oil.

Donald was President and CEO of TransAtlantic Energy Corp. and several other oil and gas companies with headquarters at QB Farm outside Caldwell.

Donald was so proud of his heritage and family and never missed an opportunity to tell others about his children and grandchildren. He had a strong belief in the Divine presence in himself and every being. His exuberant spirit and warmth will be carried in our hearts.  

Family and friends will gather in the late spring or early summer to celebrate Donald’s life: wife Candace Bennett, sister Patricia Havican, daughters and sons and beloved grandchildren: Kathryn Quest and son Julian, Donald Quest, Jr. (Kendra) and daughters Mikaela, Delaney and Ashlynn, Christian Quest(Heather) and son Austin, Amanda Quest(Bryan)and children Jared, Ashley and 9Emma and Sandra Negrete-Quest(wife of son Patrick who passed recently) and children Megan and Zachary. Nephews Dan Havican (Kate)and Adam Havican (Colleen) and their families, cousins George Domsky(Nadine)and Alex Domsky(Kelly) and families. And Candace’ s family.
