David E. Lawrence

David E. Lawrence age 65 of Caldwell, OH passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH. He was born February 2, 1954 in Marietta, OH a son of the late George and Ruth Handschumacher Lawrence.

Dave was a 1972 Graduate of the Caldwell High School he went on to attend the University of Akron. He worked for many years on oil rigs following his schooling one of his favorite employers was J.L. Coats. He was employed for many years for O.D.O.T District 10 in Marietta for 24 years. He eventually moved on to become the Noble County Transportation Administrator for O.D.O.T. District 10, a position he held for 11 years until his recent retirement following 35 years of service, on September 30, 2019.

He was an avid farmer and enjoyed raising cattle and goats. Every year since 1996 he would travel to Louisville, KY to show animals at the North American International Livestock Exposition. He had a passion for bass fishing and was a past member of the Veto Bass Club in Veto, OH. Along with his wife Diana he would take trips fishing to Lake Norris in Knoxville, TN and Lake Murray in South Carolina. He was also an avid card player and thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with his Thursday night euchre group.  He was a strong community supporter whether it be 4-H, FFA, the Noble County Fair, and any local benefits to help out the local youth and community.

His greatest love was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, whether it be helping them to work with their animals, attending their many sporting events, or spending time with them at the fair. He also enjoyed attending youth rodeos. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, papaw, and friend. As he gave in life, he continued to give through the gift of organ donation.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson Gavin Patrick Clark; father-in-law and mother-in-law Stewart and Mary Kendle.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years Diana Kendle Lawrence whom he married January 20, 1979; 2 Daughters Carrie (Josh) Clark of Sarahsville, OH and Sarah Reed and Doug Reed of Caldwell; 1 son Matthew (Tasha Kay) Lawrence of Caldwell; grandchildren Riley and Cullen Clark, Earah and Matix Reed, Hayden and Paxtyn Lawrence; 2 sisters Jean (Ray) Krusinski of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Beth (Phil) Chandler of Caldwell; lifelong friend Earl (Rita) Pickenpaugh of Caldwell. He is also survived by many extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Cremation will be observed following the service and inurnment will be held in Dudley Cemetery near Caldwell at a later date.
