Carla J. Schott age 70, of Zanesville, OH joined the Lord Sunday morning May 13, 2018 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville. She was born February 16, 1948 in Cambridge, OH, a daughter of the late Carl Lamar and Isabel Mendenhall Dowling.
She was a 1966 Graduate of Caldwell High School and earned her Registered Nursing Degree at the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. She then went on to work at the former Bethesda Hospital (currently Genesis Healthcare) for over 25 years. After retiring from nursing, Carla developed and directed the Newborn Bereavement Program at Bethesda. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Zanesville. She enjoyed watching Ohio State football and basketball games. She received the most joy from spending time with her family.
Whether it was her work at the hospital or all she did for others, Carla was a caregiver at heart. She never put herself first, choosing rather to help, support and comfort those around her. The countless lives she touched in her selfless service as a wife, mother and grandmother along with her work with mothers and newborns can never be measured and will be felt for generations.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Ronald D. Schott, whom she married August 30, 1969; 1 daughter Stephanie (Jose) Vega of Pataskala, OH; 2 sons Matthew Aaron Schott of Worthington, OH and David James Schott of New Boston, OH; 10 grandchildren; 2 sisters Maureen Schultice of Caldwell, OH and Kay (Jeff) Curtis of Butler, PA; brother Lamar (Janice) Dowling of Caldwell. She also is survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
