Betty Jean (Young) Gordon

Betty Jean Young Gordon age 90, of Caldwell went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday January 22, 2014 at Summit Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehab. She was born July 3, 1923 in McLuney, OH a daughter of the late Wilbur Glenn and Lelia Gertrude Lanning Young.

Betty was a 1941 graduate of the McLuney High School in Perry County, OH. She was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church since 1946. Betty spent much of her time caring for the elderly. She was an employee of the former Gateway Market for 20 years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William Stewart Gordon whom she married May 22, 1946 and who passed away November 2, 1978; 2 brothers Fred Young and Bobby D. Young and 1 sister Evelyn Denny.

She was loved and will be missed by her family, 2 daughters Alice R. Gordon of Bethesda and Jean Ann (Gail) Peterson of Waterford; 4 grandchildren Christina May of Barnesville, Karen Camp of Lancaster, Jeremy Peterson of Chicago, IL and Jason Peterson of Columbus; 6 great-grandchildren Megan, Shania, Allison, Elizabeth, Emily, Lucas and Samuel. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends will be received Saturday January 25, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 pm at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Sunday January 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell.
