Betty June Davis, 79, of Caldwell, Ohio passed away suddenly Friday morning, May 19, 2017 at Southeastern Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio due to a short illness.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1937 in Caldwell, Ohio daughter of the late William and Mildred Rossiter. She was the Co-Valedictorian of Sarahsville High School Class of 1955. She was employed as Deputy Treasurer for Noble County Treasurers Office and the State Library of Ohio Service Center. She served as a poll worker for the Noble County Election Board for many years. She attended the Caldwell Church of Christ on Cumberland Street, in Caldwell and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant City, OH. She was a member and active for many years in former Amazon Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star in Caldwell, where she also played the organ. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her Kindle, and birdwatching. She was a gentle, mild mannered soul, except when she was playing Bingo.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother James Rossiter and one grandson Jason Davis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Melvin Davis of Caldwell, whom she married March 1, 1956; one son Rick (Brooke) Davis of Caldwell, OH; 3 grandsons Joshua of Zanesville, OH, Christopher and Cody Davis of Caldwell; one daughter Denise “Nin” (Fred) Schafer of Senecaville, OH, granddaughter Tosh Schafer (Rob) of Columbus, OH; two grandsons Eli (Miranda) Schafer and Daniel (Kayla) Schafer of Senecaville; and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday, May 22, 2017 prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Old Infirmary Road, Pleasant City, OH 43772, with Rev. Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
