Luella Crum age 100, of East Union, OH passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at her family home. She was born February 1, 1916 in Noble County, OH a daughter of the late John and O'Tillia Nau Hupp.
She was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Carlisle and was very active in the Catholic Women’s Club there for many years. She spent many years serving as presiding judge for the Stock Township Precinct and as a poll worker. Luella could often be found working on a quilt in her free time.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Walter P. Crum whom she married April 17, 1947 and who passed away Sept. 11, 2000; 2 brothers Robert and Howard Hupp; 2 sisters Mary Hill and Thelma Johnson.
Those left to cherish her memory are 2 sons David (Rebecca) Crum of Barnesville and Charles Crum of the home; 3 daughters MaryAnne (Gary) Williams of Marietta, Janice (Philip) Wentworth of Zanesville, and Patti Shaw of Caldwell; grandchildren Matthew (Amy) Crum, Jill (Zach) Crum, Daniel Crum, Carmen (Patrick) Taylor, Carisa (Shannon) Cline, Philina (Jeremy) Schram, Philip (Laura) Wentworth II, Philita (John) Wheeler, and Rob (Katie) Shaw; great-grandchildren Samantha, Tyler, Ashley, Jenna, Molly, Isaac, Jenna, Olivia, Calleigh, and Arlo; siblings Albert Hupp of Summerfield, Edward (Alice) Hupp of Zanesville, Agatha Schafer of Senecaville, Art (Grace) Hupp of Caldwell, Leoba (Paul) Archer of Woodsfield, Rose (Ronnie) Schell of Caldwell, and Norbert “Bill” (Janice) Hupp of Caldwell; sister-in-law Carol Hupp of Caldwell. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with a Vigil Service concluding visitation at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 16, 2017 at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Carlisle, with Rev. Father Chester Pabin serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
