Jane (Baker) Dovenbarger

Jane Dovenbarger age 92, of Belle Valley, OH passed away Thursday evening, July 23, 2015 at the Summit Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Caldwell. She was born February 21, 1923, in Pike County, OH a daughter of the late Russell and Nellie Bush Baker.

Jane spent her life as a homemaker and she was a member of the Ava Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time gardening and working in her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband John Ray Dovenbarger whom she married Dec. 25, 1945 and who passed on July 11, 1998; 4 sisters Virginia Wilkos, Marie Church, Gladys Moore, and Sarah Anderson; 2 brothers William “Art” Baker and Raymond Baker and an infant son.

Those left to cherish her memory are 3 daughters Carolyn (Lloyd) Smith of Belle Valley, OH, Mary (Larry) Chicwak of Belle Valley, and Nellie (Scott Smith) Ritterback of Barnesville, OH; 3 sons Charlie (Ruth) Dovenbarger of Belle Valley, Ed (Peggy) Dovenbarger of Belle Valley, and Jim (Vicki) Dovenbarger of Sharon, OH; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 sister Nancy Seevers of Ava, OH; 3 brothers Robert “Bob” Baker of Dudley, OH, Richard Baker of Marietta, OH, and Russell Baker Jr. of Byesville, OH. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 1 to 3 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Larry Copley officiating. Burial will follow in Hoskinsville Cemetery in Hoskinsville.
