Dale Edward Gardner

Dale E. Gardner age 84 of Caldwell, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Summit Acres Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Caldwell. He was born November 30, 1932 in Noble County, Ohio a son of the late Leonard Walter and Lula Mae Gardner.

Dale served and protected his nation in the United States Army during the Korean War. Dale retired as a truck driver from Yellow Freight Trucking Company, following over 45 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the United States Trotting Association. His greatest passion was horses, he raised, trained and harness raced for many years all throughout Ohio, along-side his son Dale.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Fay Howard Gardner who passed away in January of 2000; 2 brothers Darl D. Gardner and Joseph Earl Gardner; sister-in-law Mary Gardner.

Those left to cherish his memory are children Sherry (Bill) Chandler of Caldwell, Yancy (Ruth) Gardner of Coshocton, OH, and Dale W. (Melissa) Gardner of Caldwell; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Irene Gardner of Louisville, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Private services will be observed by the family. Inurnment will take place in Dudley Cemetery near Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Dale’s name to the Hospice of Guernsey Inc., P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
